Food Philosophy
Legendary watermen of Cape Fear prepared all the seafood they could harvest in ramshackle buildings on the water. Many could tell exactly which creek or bend any oyster or shrimp came from. If anyone was lucky enough to find their way through the moss-filled live oaks to the salt marsh, an unforgettable meal and experience was had by all. The food mission and philosophy at Dockside is a reflection of those rustic fish camps in a more modern time and setting.
The kitchen is based on shortening the road seafood travels from harvest to your table. And along the way we support the preservationist cause, taking an active role with sustainable seafood programs. I feel we have an obligation to set the standards in our community. Because our ultimate mission is to highlight the pleasure of eating, enjoying the value of the good health of our oceans and waterways, because you will see the waterways and taste the essence from them in your food.
